Starting our young team research activity

The aim of the first objective consists in the synthesis of nanohybrid materials based on exfoliated MMT and different functionalized GO. The functional groups attached to the GO surface could influence the success of MMT exfoliation through their structure. Thus, flexible or aromatic structures could be studied as GO modifiers to promote MMT exfoliation. The synthesis of MMT-GO nanohybrids has never been reported by our knowledge. In this case the solution proposed by the project could be applied also for the synthesis of nanocomposites with other types of polymer matrix, taking into account other applications. Therefore, an extensive study in this stage is required, which will consider beside the structure of modifiers, also reaction parameters and raw materials characteristics. However, also alternative routes will be considered by conventional methods. Therefore, the method for the synthesis of nanohybrid materials could bring a significant contribution to the increase of economic potential of Romanian research.
